We took our cameras inside the Lakers practice facility to give you a behind the scenes look at the formation of the 2012-2013 Laker Girls squad. From the ladies stepping through the doors, to getting their final number called, we find out who will be performing and cheering on the purple and gold for the upcoming season.
“I love Laker Girl auditions because it brings all new talent and I’m excited to see all the dancers that show up and that want to be a part of this organization, explained Laker Girls Director, Lisa Estrada.
With over 400 dancers from across the nation and even from other parts of the country, the talent pool was very strong in vying for a spot on the Laker Girls squad, which typically consists of 22 girls, with 18 performing at home games. One of those prospective girls was Kelly, an avid fan who traveled internationally to audition.
“I’m from Sydney, Australia so we don’t have NBA there, we have our NBL, but the Lakers are my favorite American team by far,” said Kelly. “I’m still very nervous because there are a lot of girls still here, but it’s a bit of a relief to be through the first round.”
