Gary Payton Plans to Bring the NBA Back to Seattle
Gary Payton better known as “The Glove” appeared at the OC Dugout in Anaheim this past week to meet and sign autographs for his fans. According to store owner Lance Kirkland, Payton had not done a public signing in 15 years. But the former Seattle SuperSonic did not skip a beat as he engaged with every fan and showed that he was excited to be there.
“When you retire and you get out of basketball its always good to see how much people still like you,” said Gary Payton. “Now to come around and be interactive with them [fans] it’s a treat to me.”
Although his time has ended on the hardwood, the nine time NBA All-Star has plans on heading up to the Northwest to cover college basketball while working on something Seattle fans would love to have back… NBA basketball.
“My agenda now is for next year; we want to try to get a Seattle team back in Seattle. And that’s my biggest focus right now,” Payton explained confidently. “I want to get a team back there and I think we got a lot of people that are really onboard for that. We’re eligible to do that in September of next year… and I think it’s going to happen!”
